Retinal Imaging
Retinal imaging is a digital photograph of the back of the eye. This usually includes the Optic nerve and the Macula region. We have retinal cameras in Toowoomba, Roma and Emerald. From the time we purchased our first camera around 20 years ago we have been routinely photographing every patient’s retina.
Retinal photographs provide such accurate records of your ocular condition and enhanced diagnostic accuracy we felt it was vital that every patient had a retinal photo at least every 2 years. We find these images useful in the detection of Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and vascular changes in Diabetes and hypertension. Retinal Photos are not covered by Medicare.
